The author of Tactile Power is an Eritrean immigrant and American citizen. Born deaf and blind (deafblind), he came to America at the invitation of Lady Liberty. Like millions of people dating back to the founding of the American Republic and who call the United States of America home because it promised freedom and opportunity, the author came to America in pursuit of a better life.
When the author first came to America, he knew almost no English. He had never learned to read or write in his native Tigrinya, so the journey to mastering the language of his new home would not be easy. Two decades later, what a difference life in America makes, especially given the right attitude and tools to succeed. Today, the author is a college graduate, founding president of a national nonprofit advocacy group, and an active member of the local community who seeks to enhance access for everyone through technology and inclusive public policy.
